Boxing History & True Crime - The Death of Tyrone Everett

There is no shortage of links between boxing and crime throughout history, and we enjoy when those things converge. In the 1970s, Philadelphia experienced serious gang and mafia violence in some parts of the city. In the middle of the decade, a young fighter named Tyrone Everett emerged as a likely future world champion. Everett lost a highly controversial decision to junior lightweight champion Alfredo Escalera in 1976, and before a rematch could take place, Everett was gunned down. On this episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast, Patrick Connor and Aris Pina remember the boxing, the history and the true crime. Follow us on social media!
