We're back with another true crime episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast. It seemed many enjoyed our rundown of the life and alleged coverup in the death of Charles Newell, so this time we're taking aim at the case of another fighter who died under shady circumstnces: "The Outlaw" Jesse James Hughes.
Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the welterweight division was in a transitional period, but nevertheless ripe with talent. As Felix Trinidad began his reign, James Hughes was released from prison and began a strong run in 1993. But in 1995, Hughes went missing and was found dead weeks later. On this episode of the pod, fight historians Patrick Connor and Aris Pina hash out Hughes' early career and go over the known facts of his case.

Quick: name some junior middleweight unification bouts. If it took you a few minutes to come up with more than a couple, you're not alone, because there haven't been that many. That's at least part of what makes the Jermell Charlo vs Brian Castaño clash notable, though it's a compelling matchup otherwise.
On this episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast, Patrick Connor and Aris Pina give the Charlo-Castaño main event a preview and talk about the co-feature, Rolando Romero vs Anthony Yigit. We couldn't do a whole show without talking history, though, so discussion of other junior middleweight unifications from history is also on the menu.

We couldn't help ourselves and Floyd Mayweather's exhibition against Logan Paul on Showtime needed some talking. At least we thought it did, which is why we brought in the big guns.
On this episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast, boxing writer and commentator Corey Erdman joins historians Patrick Connor and Aris Pina in answering some questions about Mayweather-Paul. Like, what should we expect? Is this really that bizarre or unprecedented? How much shame should we feel for enjoying this? There's only one way to find out: listen.

Nonito Donaire said it best. "The king is back." His huge knockout win over Nordine Oubaali was both entertaining and triumphant, and he deserves some proper respect. Between Donaire-Oubaali, Devin Haney's win over Jorge Linares and Subriel Matías' crunching fight with Batyr Jukembayev, it was a heck of a Saturday night of boxing.
On this episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast, we ran down the weekend's fights, in addition to giving a short tribute to recently fallen Keith Mullings.

Josh Taylor is the junior welterweight champion, and the distinction and clarity are good, even if only because the word champion really should be singular. José Ramírez put forth a game effort and has nothing to be ashamed of. Kenny Bayless, on the other hand...
On this episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast, we go over Taylor's victory over Ramírez on ESPN and preview this weekend's action, featuring lightweight Devin Haney taking on Jorge Linares and bantamweight Nordine Oubaali defending a title against Nonito Donaire. Don't miss it!

We had a fight card filled with war on Showtime last weekend, with Brandon Figueroa topping Luis Nery in the main event. Danny Roman's victory over Ricardo Espinoza Franco and Xavier Martinez's win over Juan Carlos Burgos were both incredibly entertaining, meriting some recapping time themselves.
This coming weekend on ESPN, Josh Taylor and José Ramírez meet for the grand prize at junior welterweight, so needless to say it need to be on ye olde podcast menu.
On this here episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast, all that and more, like a brief reaction to the legal situation involving Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. Boxing historians Patrick Connor and Aris Pina team up to tackle it all.

Whether or not you believe Billy Joe Saunders quit or was justified in bowing out against Saul "Canelo" Álvarez seems to have become a new dividing line in boxing.
Either way, Canelo walks away from this past weekend with a big victory that needs a little discussing.
On this episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast, boxing historians Patrick Connor and Aris Pina team up to break down the fight, Saunders' injury and a few other particulars.

They say records, like rules, are meant to be broken. Even if true, some records are nearly impossible to duplicate, much less break. And then there are the boxing's various sideshows and weird pairings.
On this episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast, boxing historians Patrick Connor and Aris Pina get together and remember a whole bunch of these things. From the all-time knockout record, to a few heavyweight recods and others, we're in the thick of it.

Boxing is dead. It's being murdered. It's changing. Everthing is bad and awful.
Not really, those are just the things a lot of very worried boxing people are saying in the wake of Jake Paul's knockout of Ben Askren on Triller. It's more boxing stuff, is what it is. Regis Prograis, the correct pronunciation of "Redkach," Tyson Fury's negotiations with Anthony Joshua and Bobby Czyz are all on the menu on this episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast.
Join boxing historian Patrick Connor and Brin-Jonathan Butler in reliving the madness.
