Barring those averse to in-ring violence, just about everyone can appreciate a serious knockout. Even if it's only in the sense that you can't turn away despite wanting to, the kind of damage being done to another human is extreme. And knockouts tend to be entertaining.
On this episode of Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio, boxing historian and author Patrick Connor and Compubox operator Aris Pina once again team up, and this time to remember the stories behind some of the craziest knockouts in boxing history.

Thursday Apr 16, 2020

Thursday Apr 16, 2020

Andrew Golota, an infamous heavyweight in the 1990s and early 2000s, always seemed to be accompanied by controversy. The Polish scrapper faced off against Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, John Ruiz and of course Riddick Bowe -- twice. Weird things followed the guy. And on this episode of Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio, boxing historian and author/filmmaker Brin-Jonathan Butler discuss Golota's 20+ year career.

While not often thought of as a boxing haven, the massive continent of Africa nevertheless has not only hosted several world class bouts, but there are many pockets of pugilistic activity in different countries. Two hours is hardly enough time to sufficiently sum up the greatest and best-known African fighters of all time, but boxing historian Patrick Connor and Compubox operator Aris Pina do their best. Part 2, perhaps?

Technically Donovan "Razor" Ruddock's career lasted from 1982 to 2015 -- more than 30 years. In truth he had a long layoff from 2001 to 2015, but even so, as an active fighter, Ruddock ran the gauntlet of 1980s and 90s heavyweights that took over the division. Michael Dokes, Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Tommy Morrison... Ruddock didn't win them all, but he was there. On this episode of Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio, boxing historian Patrick Connor and author/filmmaker Brin-Jonathan Butler recall his story.

Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield was an extraordinary fighter. Over the course of more than 25 years in the ring, he defeated almost everyone put in front of him. At worst, he made sure they didn't want to fight him twice. Holyfield wasn't without his vices, though, and he was involved in plenty of controversy. In this episode of Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio, boxing historian Patrick Connor and author/filmmaker Brin-Jonathan Butler remember the former heavyweight champion.
