Nobody seems to know exactly how Terence Crawford vs Viktor Postol will turn out, but a high level fight that is 50-50 on paper is what boxing needs more of. That the fight is a unification bout could even be incidental, but both Crawford and Postol hold separate belts nonetheless.
Though there seems to be less and less incentive to actually unify titles as time goes by, many of boxing's memorable battles have been unification matches. Felix Trinidad vs Oscar de la Hoya, Ray Leonard vs Thomas Hearns I and II, Bernard Hopkins vs Felix Trinidad and Oscar de la Hoya, Erik Morales vs Marco Antonio Barrera I, Diego Corrales vs Jose Luis Castillo, Brian Viloria vs Tyson Marquez... All unification bouts. The list goes on, and that's exactly what Compubox operator Aris Pina and Patrick Connor of The Fight City (and other places) will ramble on about.

So. 2016 has been not-so-fun for boxing thus far. We know, and we're sorry. But cheer up, because things aren't all bad and we have some worthwhile stuff coming up.
For instance, this weekend Terence Crawford and Viktor Postol tangle in what figures to be an interesting fight, at least. It stinks that it's on HBO Pay-Per-View, but at least that gives us the option of buying or not. Those who want to watch will find a way to.
There's much more, though, and Patrick Connor of The Fight City (and other places) will guide us all through. Once again joining the show this week is author and filmmaker Brin-Jonathan Butler. Also on the discussion agenda: Gennady Golovkin vs Kell Brook, Andre Ward vs Alexander Brand, Carl Frampton vs Leo Santa Cruz, Canelo vs Liam Smith, Brin's time spent with Ward recently, and more.

On June 16, 1951, a man named Roberto Duran was given to the world. He eventually became one of the greatest fighters ever, and certainly one of the greatest lightweights of all time. "Manos de Piedra" even has a film about him ("Hands of Stone") coming out this summer. He deserves a tribute.
This week on Top Men Boxing Radio, historian and Compubox operator Aris Pina joins Patrick Connor of The Fight City (and a few other places) in honoring Roberto Duran on his 65th birthday. What kind of fighter was he? How would he match up against other all-time greats? What were his best and most meaningful fights? We'll talk about all of these things and more.

It has been several days since we lost "The Greatest," and it still hurts. The world will never be the same again, and certainly neither will boxing.
On this episode of Top Men Boxing Radio, author and director Brin-Jonathan Butler again joins Patrick Connor of The Fight City, but this time for a far more poignant reason: to remember the life and influence of three-time heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali.

Boxing History. For some of us, it's an addiction. It's a cross between two subjects we love to study and talk about, and this week's episode of Top Men Boxing Radio is no exception.
Historian and Compubox operator Aris Pina again joins Patrick Connor of The Fight City (and some other places) to talk about some of the greatest Mexican fighters in history. Per usual, the theme ties into this weekend's super featherweight fight between Francisco Vargas and Orlando Salido.
From Salvador Sanchez to Miguel Canto, Erik Morales and Julio Cesar Chavez, listen in to hear some familiar and not-so-familiar stories and factoids.

As most boxing fans are, at Top Men Boxing Radio we're bummed that another anticipated fight was postponed and/or canceled. Deontay Wilder vs Alexander Povetkin promised to be a interesting fight, if not an explosive one. But now that it's off the table, we look toward history once more.
On this week's boxing history edition of the show, Compubox operator and fight historian Aris Pina teams up with Patrick Connor of The Fight City (and a few other places) to discuss the greatest Asian fighters in the history of the sport. From Pancho Villa all the way to Manny Pacquiao, and many others between, count on Aris and Patrick to deliver with the best boxing history podcast around.
In the later portion of this episode, the contemporary tie-in will be fights in history that were canceled, in honor of Wilder-Povetkin's postponement.

Let us hope that getting the leading "Knockout of the Year" candidate out of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs Amir Khan was all worth it in the end. But for what it was, it sure got Canelo a heap of attention and leads him nicely into negotiations with Gennady Golovkin.
This week on Top Men Boxing Radio, Patrick Connor of The Fight City (and a few other places) again flies solo and recaps the HBO Pay-Per-View main event.
There was a bit more to get into, however, as rumors of a mysterious fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor took over social media for a day. Additionally, this week's ShoBox headliner pits two undefeated prospects against one another in Andrew Tabiti and Keith Tapia, and Dusty Hernandez Harrison fights Mike Dallas, Jr. on BET. Mr. Connor has you covered.

It's now apparent that #Khanelo is upon us. Whether you wanted to see Saul "Canelo" Alvarez against Amir Khan or not, it's here.
In honor of Khan moving up a division or two in taking on Canelo, this week on the history edition of Top Men Boxing Radio we talk about fights in which one of the competitors moved up a division or more to face a larger champion. Quite a few fighters played weight games: "Sugar" Ray Robinson, Stanley Ketchel, Henry Armstrong and many more.
Compubox operator/historian Aris Pina and Patrick Connor of The Fight City (and more) are the two you want recounting these historical fights.
